Shopping at Home

Today, I accomplished several things that are suggested to save money according to Cindy at Cindy's porch (cindysporch.net). First, I cleaned out my refrigerator, pantry and two freezers (three if you count the one with the fridge) and made a detailed list of everything I have in there.

You would not believe how much food we have. I was amazed. I had garden veggies I had put up since 2001. Greenbeans and corn on the cob out the wazoo. It is a wonder that we even have to buy groceries.

Then, I took all the food we had and categorized it according to food group. Then I made menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next two weeks based on the foods I already have at home. I went through my grocery list and scratched out all the stuff I had on there that I already had at home!

Then, as Cindy suggested, I made a humongous pot of vegetable soup. We will eat some for supper tonight, and the rest I will freeze. It will be so scrumptious in the winter.

I feel a little bit better being a tad bit more organized. Our pantry, freezers and fridge are organized and we can actually see what we have.
When I use something, I will cross it off my list and add to my grocery list. Now if I could just do the same to my bathroom and utility room! Another weekend.

So, you may ask why I am doing all this. Well, that is simple. I have (6) 4 page research papers due next week and I am procrastinating. Don't want to do it and probably won't until I absolutely have to, so in the mean time, I can do something to organize my life, can't I? Yeah, yeah, I am going to write one tonight. Then I'll put off the other 5 ha/ha.

It is Father's Day and what is my work-a-holic husband doing? Laying on the couch watching a good movie, you might ask. Well, of course not, he is cleaning out his shop, building a dog yard (actually enlarging it) for our babies, and building a walkway from the carport to the front porch.

Our house has gone to the dogs! We have blocked off the back porch and door so they can use it to go in and out in to do their business and have begun to use our front door instead. We have to climb over a baby gate just to do our laundry. Now we are enlarging the dog yard and have decided to have a kennel built so we can start breeding or doxies. We want to get one more female, then we will have two males that can mate with a female since Duke and D'Lyla are sister and brother.

My DH and N just came in to get me so they can show off their handy work. She may be a winch sometimes, but she loves to work outside with her dad. The dog yard is done and the shop is clean.

The weekends are so tiresome that I am usually glad they are over. But I really don't want to go to school tomorrow. We are not having class, we have to go observe some teachers for a few hours. In observing them, we have to provide information of what teaching and learning styles they have. I have learned that I am a visual learner and teacher first and foremost, then kinesthetic. I knew I was visual, have to see things to get it, this is why I obsess about typing my notes in a clear, concise, organized manner all the time. I had no idea I had a kinesthetic bone in my body....

Note to self: Call Office of state parks tomorrow to check on reservations for 4th of July weekend. Look in Monroe to try to find SR a small white desk.
Well, I have to go direct where I want my walkway.
Have a great week.
