Happy 4th!

As I sit here stinking to high heaven and waiting on the blasted timer to go off (giving myself a straightener in my hair)- I thought I'd catch you up on what's been waggin in my world the past few days.

Well, I told you SR was sick (my 10 yr old), well she ended up in the hospital for dehydration and passing blood. She is perfectly fine now and catching up for being so sick. She has been full of pee and vinegar for the last 3 days.

So when we got her home Friday evening, and had already cancelled the reservations for the camping trip, we decided to throw some things in a bag and take off driving. We ended up on the coast of Mississippi- mainly Gulfport and Biloxi. We spent the night and the next day spent a few hours on the beach, then drove back halfway and got another room and we swam in the pool (well, I layed out- they swam). It was fun, but quick. Although the kids drove us entirely insane with their constant yaya-in and bickering. The usual "he looked at me", "she touched me", "I'm squashed".... etc.

We got home yesterday and cleaned house a bit and then invited some friends over to play cards. Me and my best friend's hubby are partners and we win most of the times we play and last night wasn't any different. It was nice, laid back and relaxing. Nothing like a good conversation, a little competition and a nice drink with some good friends.

This morning, we got up and worked on S's grant and quarterly report, ran to WalMart and S is about to fire up the grill. J and B are coming over and we're cooking ribs, steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, potato salad, baked beans. I made a low fat dessert with angel food cake, vanilla pudding, cool whip, bananas, pineapple, blue berries and strawberries. It is going to be yummy- I tested it! The kids are outside playing and I'm sitting here stinking. S just came in wanting me to start the hamburgers but I wouldn't want to be caught dead near food right now with all this mess dripping off of me.

S got 3 rose trees and a palm today and just planted them. He put the palm on my front deck- it looks good there. He loves roses and would have one at every corner and nook and cranny in the yard if I'd let him.

Well, my timer is about to go off. Yippee! I get to go wash this mess out.
